Vehicle wraps and graphics are an excellent and economical way to get your business noticed. Once your vehicle is wrapped or graphics are applied, your vehicle becomes a representation of your brand on the road. Make sure your wraps and graphics represent the quality you want to project for your brand and business. Whether you’re considering having 2Market Visuals or another company wrap your car, truck or fleet, you owe it to yourself (and maybe to your employer!) to ask these four critical questions of any company who is in the business of producing vinyl car wraps.
1. Do You Use Top Brand Name Vinyl?
First, find out if the company you are interested in working with uses brand name vinyls or private label vinyl. Large brand names like 3M and Avery Dennison invest millions of dollars into developing top of the line products, testing those products, and guaranteeing their performance. With private label or off-brand vinyl you (or the vehicle wrap company) may save money, but it is impossible to guarantee the quality, consistency, or long-term performance of the product. With private label or economy brands there can be variations in quality from roll to roll, so knowing that it worked well before is no guarantee that it will hold up well again. Make sure your vehicle is being wrapped with reputable name brand vinyls. 2Market Visuals has passed the certification process with 3M and we are qualified to offer the extended 3M MCS Warranty with all the wraps we produce. We are also in the process of getting similar certification for the use of Avery’s great line of materials.
2. Is Your Vinyl Specifically Formulated for Vehicle Wraps?
For most people, vinyls all look alike. But they are not alike. We only use vehicle wrapping vinyls that are formulated and produced to comply and fit any shape or curve with the application of some heat. Other vinyls (calendared vinyls or sign vinyls) are designed specifically for flat surfaces. Although sign vinyls are less expensive and a perfect choice for traditional flat signs and walls they will not hold up well on curved or convex surfaces. All of the leading brand-name manufacturers produce both types of vinyls, so be sure to ask, not just about the brand name but also that the vinyl is a cast vinyl designed especially for vehicles or other curved surfaces. Cast vinyls are scientifically formulated to comply and adhere to complex curves and to hold that shape over time.
3. Are Printed Wraps and Graphics Laminated?
Make sure that your printed vinyl graphics will be laminated before being applied to your vehicle. This is another area where other wrap companies may try to save money – but YOU will pay the price. Laminating the graphics will protect the appearance and quality of your vehicle wrap in two ways. First, the laminates have built in UV protection that will prevent your vehicle wrap from fading. You want to present a quality image of your brand for a long time to come. A faded vehicle wrap sends the wrong message about your business and brand. Secondly, the inks for digitally printed graphics are durable, but can be scratched or abraded if not protected. Our cast laminates will provide protection for your graphics so they keep your vehicle looking new and sharp.
4. How Much Experience Do They Have Wrapping Vehicles?
In this business, experience REALLY matters. Wrapping vehicles is a hands-on skill. Vehicle wrap specialists develop an innate sense for handling the materials and understanding how the materials perform. Our installers have a keen attention to detail and take pride in the finished product — and they should. They treat your vehicle with care, recognizing that commercial vehicles are a valuable asset for your business. Leased vehicles need to be returned in top condition. Don’t hesitate to ask to meet the person who will be wrapping your vehicle and make sure your questions are answered. All of our wraps and vehicle graphics come under the watchful supervision of our 3M Preferred Certified installer.
